Corrections & Retractions Policy



The Innovation of Chemistry & Materials for Sustainability (ICMS) is committed to maintaining the integrity, accuracy, and reliability of the scholarly record. When errors or ethical issues are identified in published articles, the journal will take appropriate action in accordance with Commission on Publication Ethics (COPE). guidelines.

Types of Post-Publication Updates

Corrections (Erratum / Corrigendum): Corrections are issued when:

  • Minor errors are identified that do not affect the overall results or conclusions
  • Author names, affiliations, or metadata require correction
  • Errors in figures, tables, or text are discovered

Process:

  • A correction notice will be published and linked to the original article
  • The original article will be updated with a note indicating the correction
  • Both HTML and PDF versions will clearly indicate that a correction has been made

Retractions

An expression of concern may be issued when:

  • There is inconclusive evidence of misconduct
  • An investigation is ongoing but not yet resolved

Process:

  • A notice will be published and linked to the article
  • Updated once the investigation is complete

Initiation of Corrections or Retractions

Requests for corrections or retractions may be initiated by:

  • Authors
  • Editors
  • Reviewers
  • Readers or third parties

All requests must include:

  • Detailed description of the issue
  • Supporting evidence (if applicable)

Investigation Process

  • The editorial team will review all cases thoroughly
  • Authors will be contacted for explanation
  • Independent experts may be consulted
  • Decisions will be made based on evidence and ethical guidelines

Transparency and Accessibility

All correction, retraction, and concern notices will be:

  • Freely accessible
  • Clearly linked to the original article

Articles will not be removed, except in exceptional legal circumstances
